How do these fish sound for a 29 gallon?

Large fish for 29 gallon fish tank?

  • So I've had practically all easy freshwater fish communities with guppies,Platy, molly, tetras, angels, gouram… etc. And still have my 50 gallon a community like this. So my 29 gallon I'm looking towards just one or two, max 3, large fish. Ideas? I would like to do cichlids but obviously most get too large for a 29 gallon. Would a pair or 3 of the psuedo... cichlids work? Or would it still be too small? Thanks.

  • Answer:

OOh! Get two Ram Cichlids. They are extremely pretty, but are a smaller variety of cichlid.

Honestly I don't think you can get anything out of a 29 gallon FW tank if you already have a 50. There are some smaller cichlids, and I'd go with a pair rather than a trio. I had a 55g FW and when I got a 29 cube, rather than make another FW tank, I made a SW tank with gobys, corals, and clownfish. Never turned back. If you are maintaining the 50 in good health, I strongly recommend trying out a saltwater tank. A 29g SW is no more expensive to maintain than a 50 gallon FW, especially if you only go with fish and liverock, and some shrimp and crabs. There aren't really any large fish you should put in a 29 gallon honestly, a bunch of small showy fish is much more acceptable no matter which way you go.
