How do these fish sound for a 29 gallon?

Replacing my 29 Gallon Biocube Light.?

  • Im not really good at these lights. There just so confusing for me. So i'm going to sound really stupid. Ok, I have a 29 gallon Biocube with about four fish and and five coral so far. I have two bulbs and one of them is out. The one that's out is the one that makes the tank bluish. So the soft coral I have is not doing as well, but they are doing ok. So the question I have is can I replace the bulb I have now with a better one that will allow me to have Hard Coral? The bulb thats out is 16''.

  • Answer:

They are called power compact bulbs, the blue one is the actinic bulb which is the blue end of the color light spectrum. Basically it is meant for deeper water corals and really helps with photosynethisis. You will need to replace the actinic bulb. You really can not keep SPS under PC lighting. You can try it but chances are that it wont last. PC lighting just doesnt seem to be strong enough. You can modify the hood to a Metal halide lighting unit which you will be able to keep SPS or just take off the hood and get a clip on MH unit.
