What do fish eat?

What types of fish wont eat a Betta and what fish wont a Betta eat?

  • I just got a new betta, and I didn't know that my catfish would eat it. I plan to throw the catfish out so when I get a new one, it wont get attacked. Without the catfish in my tank, I would have: A black catfish, four red eyed tetras, two black mollies, three emperor tetras, and a cory cat. Now, should i get rid of any of those? What fish can I get that wont attack the betta and that the betta wont attack? Also, can I get any colorful fish as long as they don't have flowing fins? I don't really care for bland fish.

  • Answer:

there are many fish that are compatible as betta tankmates. The four rules that you can use to determine whether a fish is compatible are 1) Not colorful or resemble a rival betta's colors (guppies) 2) Not a fin nipper (Tiger barbs are a big NO) 3) The right size for the size of the tank (No common plecos in a 10 gallon tank since they get to 2 feet in length) 4) Lives roughly in the same water conditions as a betta (no brackish/saltwater fish) more info here http://bettacare101.com/tankmates
