Where can I find large swim fins?

My angelfish was attacked by my two skirt tetras'. Fins are damaged, what now?

  • Today i came home from work to find my angelfish in the corner of the tank having problems balancing himself. Upon a closer look I realized that his fins; top, bottom and tail; had been shredded. Though the fins that are on either side of him (don't know what to call them) are fine and intact. But he has no control of himself. His little fins are moving but he seems to float now, not swim and he can't keep himself right-side-up. Now it seems like he is exhausted and is laying on the bottom of the tank on his side. I have a 29 gallon tank with charcoal filter and his tank mates are two tetra; 2 platys; 2 black mollies and one angelfish other than him. I've added a make-shift separator to my tank to keep all other fish away from the angels because I saw my tetras nipping at them. I've also added Melafix to the tank. Will he be able to heal himself or is he doomed? Can I help him? And if so then what should I do? Please help.

  • Answer:

He may heal himself but only time will tell now. Get a PH tester and be sure the water is good. Make sure that the separater is fish safe. dont mess with him at all he needs to save all of his energy to heal.
