Albino African water frog splotchy skin PLEASE HELP!?

  • Hello i have a female albino African clawed frog that is about 8 month old. About 2 months ago i noticed what look almost like dry skin on her lower belly. What started out as small spots turned splotchy and discolored skin after she managed to jump out of her tank and land in my kitchen sink. She was out of the water for at least 3 hours if not longer but by the time i found her she looked like a prune but was still alive. After she recuperated the rash had spread and gotten much worse. I worry its the beginning stages of red leg. If any one knows what this could be or if i should be worried let me know!! Ive posted this question before and the only answer i got was take her to the vet... So no obvious dumb answers like that please and thank you. Here is the url to a pic of her. Its a old pic and its gotten worse http://tinypic.com/r/28bfb6v/7

  • Answer:

From everything I have read the beginning stages of red leg looks just like the name, the legs become red and swollen. The picture doese not indicate that this is the case. More than likely the dryness caused what you are calling a rash, however, the picture is not really all that clear. I would make sure that you have changed the water (including adding aquarium salt) and look into some antifungal and antibacterial tank additives in case a bacterial or fungal infection has set in.
