What to put in my 10 gallon tank?

What fish/plants would be good to put in a 10 gallon freshwater tank?

  • i just started my aquarium. currently in the tank are 3 neon tetra's and nothing else. here are some fish i would really love to have! pleco(though since i started the tank just this week there is no algae or food really) crystal red shrimp(I WANT SOME SHRIMP IN MY TANK SO BADLY!) [i heard you can put them in a little box with some plants and float it near the top of the tank so they are protected from fish who might eat them.] and some fancy tail guppies. also i would love some more neon tetra's i also have a beta fish but am afraid to put him in my tank because i fear he will cause trouble for the other fish. can somebody give me some good stocking options for my tank?

    A few more neon tetras, a few shrimp and another small shoal of Tetras will fully stock your tank. Bettas can go with Neon Tetras sometimes, however usually the Neons will nip the Betta. There are no species of pleco small enough to live in a ten gallon tank. Guppies are fine as long as you keep a single sex group (they breed like rabbits), and have no more than 5 in the tank.

Tetras Pygmy cories Gouramis hatchetfish rasboras flagfish killifish Try not to get danios because they are every active and need a bigger tank. Neon tetras should be kept in groups of at least 5 fish. Guppies should also be kept in groups and if you keep guppies and neons you wont really have room for any other fish. SHrimp are great and you can keep several in your tank. I wouldnt get a pleco because none stay small enough for your tank. I would go with cories instead because they are very docile and friendly.
