How to fish with artificial worms?

How can I heal intestinal worms in fish?

  • Recommend me something that would help me to heal my fish with intestinal worms. If you have home remedies, it'd be great.

It's funny, the article that Dan M posted is what I'm about to talk about right now. I'm battling camalanus worms in my guppy tank right now (these are the red worms that poke out by a fish's anus) and I've heard Levamisole is a god send. It comes in a powder or a liquid form, both work very well. Apparently it kills the worms within hours. Levamisole is actually used on large farm animals so if the product says it is used for pig or cattle it's okay. If you have farm/large animal vet's in your area give them a call and see if you can get some off of them. Look at this website, I know it says loaches but the page is about levamisole- http://www.loaches.com/disease-treatment/levamisole-hydrochloride-1/?searchterm=levamisole If you know about Aquabid and are a user then search for levamisole and you'll see that someone is selling it in liquid form. I am actually going to buy it and see if it works on my guppies, let me know if you want to know how it turns out.

Mixing pureed garlic to your fish food can help deworm the fish. It is not as effective as veterinary medications. Those either come in prepared foods like Dewormer Bits, or by prescription from a veterinarian. If you go the drug route, get AquaGloves and don't put your hands in the water without them. Wash and triple rinse everything used in the tank (e.g. nets) and dispose of all used water in the drain. Used tank water is great for household plants, but not when it has drugs in it.

Home remedies wont be as effective as medications. You can try mebendazole and/or metronidazole. I am not sure with the dosage
