What food do plecos like better?

Plecos active during the day?

• I have two plecos in my tank, one is about 4", the other is about 3". I had the bigger one for quite a while, and bought another (only keeping them until June when I go back home from college then one will be transferred into the 100 gal water troughs at the farm I work at). Anyways, the two get along surprisingly well, sharing food with each other, hanging out on the drift wood right next to each other, and scavenging. Have not seen them fight once. Anyways, I purchased them at petco, where I am guessing they are probably fed in the day, because they are still rather active when it comes to looking for food in the day. Around 3:30pm, they both start looking around, but I don't usually turn off the tank light until about 10pm. Is there some reason for this? They both eat a ton! The 3" pleco has grown about an inch in the last two weeks. I usually feed them algae disks, as well as sliced zucchini, broccoli, lettuce, or whatever else I give them. Have I started to spoil them? I am trying to keep them from eating the plants in the tank.

  Mine were pretty active during the day as well. It's fine and normal for them to be somewhat active during the day. No, you should be feeding them like that. The new one you got is probably a common...which grow VERY fast. You feeding him better is causing good growth. You shouldn't put them in a water trough. That would not be a good home for them.
