-
This would be like the first aquarium i would have. I'm wondering how many total fish i can put in a 10 gal. aquarium and of what kind. Then also can u put goldfish in with tropical fish ? These are some of the fish i thought about -Black Moors -Tiger barbs -Tetras -Bala Sharks -Platies -Neon tetras - Fantail goldfish Would those fish get along with each other and if not what ones would be good? Also how many of each variety can i put in the tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
If you're new to aquarium keeping, I recommend you don't go under 20 gallons. 10 gallon tanks are harder to keep, the bigger the tank the easier to maintain. Black moors need at least 25 gallons. Tiger barbs need 30. Tetras need 20 gallons. Bala sharks need 150 gallons. Neon tetras need 20 gallons. Fantail goldfish need 25 gallons. No, cold water and tropical fish should not be put together. If you decide to get a tank of 20 gallons or more I'll suggest some easy to care for fish.

1. Goldfish should not be housed with tropical fish. 2. Issues with fish choices: - Black moors are coldwater fish, and require a 20 gallon bare minimum. - Tiger barbs are aggressive fin nippers, should be kept in groups of at least 6, and have a 20 gallon minimum. - Bala sharks should be kept in groups, grow a foot in length, and require upwards of 150 gallons. - Fantail goldfish- same rules apply as with the black moor. 3. This site recommends appropriate fish for a 10 gallon- http://theaquariumwiki.com/Stocking_a_10_Gallon_Tank
fantail goldfish and black moors are very good ive had some before but there all Very good make sure to get allot of supplies to keep them alive and also make a little recherche before bying them:) goodluck:)
Remember every inch of a fish goes to one gallon. So for example you could keep 10 one inch guppies safely in your tank. Goldfish like a different water tempature and if they where put in a tropical tank they would have many disadvantages from the other more aggressive tropical fish,so i don't recommend it. If you want a gold fish tank, you could keep small goldfish in there along with black moors and dojo loaches( possibly). Bala Sharks and Tiger Barbs will get way to big for a ten gallon, but do go well with tetras but not goldfish or platys. Yours best options will be tetras, neon tetras, guppies, mollies, wags, swordtails, and platys. Keep in mind that tetras can be aggressive and can bully the more peaceful fish like mollies, guppies, and platys.
