How do you know when pink convict cichlids are paired?

Could i put African Peacock Cichlids in my tank?

  • well i currently have a 75 gallon tank, stocked with: -5 Adult Silver Dollar Tetras -1 adult female Firemouth Cichlid -1 Juvenile blood parrot cichlid anyway, i wanted to add 1 or 2 female convict cichlids but everywhere i look, all i see is how aggressive con's are....I've always wanted to keep peacock cichlids but i know they have different water requirement and different aggression levels as central and south american cichlids...But does anyone think its possible that i could have a few peacock cichlids in this tank? how many? and what sex?

  • Answer:

HERE GO'S LOL firstly peacocks are the friendly est of the cichlid family and can mainly only be kept with other peacocks except a few other peacefull cichlids such as the yellow lab etc... Secondly females are plain and have no colour only males do but if you go out and buy 5 males the most dominant male will be a cracking colourful fish and the other 4 will have some colour but nowhere near as nice as his. The reason you can mainly only keeps them with there own kind is if they a always attacked by aggressive fish they will just keep losing there colours, and they will eat anything smaller enough to get in there mouths. If you would like to see my peacock tank in its full glory I could send you some pictures
