How do you know when pink convict cichlids are paired?

I have baby fish in my tank.. Whos are they? My convict an jellybean parrot have been taking over one spot.?

  • For the past month or so in my 75 gallon fish tank my Jellybean parrot and my convict cichlid have been digging a hole on the side of their tank and protecting that area not letting any other fish near that area. I have quite a few cichlids in this tank. Well today there are alot of baby fish in the tank! I moved the babies and the parrot and convict in a 10 gallon together. When i put them in the convict was puting them in his or her mouth and moving them. I beleive the parrot was too after a while as well. Honestly, i know nothing so any info will help. i dont know what to do * Could they be mixed parrot and convict? * How long does it take for eggs to hatch?

  • Answer:

Parrots are hybrids of different kind of cichlids, so its possible they woudl atleast try to mate, tho just watch and see how they babies turn out. It wont take too long for the eggs to hatch, but then youll have wrigglers. And its likely atleast the convict will be evermore protective. Be prepared for the possibility of your other fish being killed or injured.
