How do you get common goldfish to mate?

  If your looking to breed them then get ready for hundreds of spawn first off then Warmer water triggers comet goldfishes to spawn in the spring (and sometimes in August). When the temperature rises 15 degrees, they start thrashing around and throwing eggs everywhere. This explains why they nearly always spawn when you bring outdoor goldfishes inside. They really can’t help throwing those eggs when they warm up 15 degrees. So up your temperature slowly few degrees a day max of 15 total and wait. They'll do their own thing in their own time. This is why most never see spawning b/c goldfish are cold water and we all keep temps low.
