    2.5 gallons is too small for any aquatic creature, other then shrimp and snails. Neon tetras require a minimum of 20 gallons. 5 gallons (heated and filtered) is the bare minimum for one betta. You could only put shrimp and snail with it. If you were to get a 10 gallon you could have one male betta and 5 dwarf rasboras, or 1 male betta and 5 celestial pearl danios. A 10 gallon would have much more variety for fish, a 20 would have even more. With a 10 gallon you could have snails, shrimp, dwarf rasboras, celestial pearl danios, African dwarf frogs, pygmy cories, lamp eye killifish, and ember tetras with a betta.

A 5gallon tank is minimum for a betta but is too small for other fish. If you want to house other fish with a betta you'll need a 10-15+ gallon tank. Neon tetras are far too sensitive and require a school of 6+ fish to be housed in such a small tank. They need at least 20+ gallons.
