How to care for my parakeet?

How do I take care of my parakeet?

  • I own a parakeet, and I think she hates me. I am sort of a cat person, and I haven't the slightest clue of how to take care of her. I really love animals, and I want the best for her, but how do I do that? I can't afford really expensive stuff, but I'm wanting her to trust me. I've had her about four-five months, maybe. Here are some questions I have: How many toys is my parakeet supposed to have? What color is her plumage supposed to be (she's mostly blue with a black; blue wing feathers and a yellow head)? What color is her beak supposed to be? She's a female. How many times do I fully clean clean her cage a week? How many times do I change her food and water per day? How many times do I take her out of her cage? (Whenever I do take her out she flies up to my bedroom fan and and she doesn't want to move from there.) What kind of food do I get her? What treats are necessary? What kind of toys do I get her? How do I get her to trust me? I know its a lot of questions, but I am really inexperienced and I want my parakeet to have a long and happy life. It would help me a lot, and I would appreciate it greatly. (I'm on my mother's computer, so I might not see an answer right away.)

  • Answer:

Best get a book about parakeets or any new type of pet you may get/have. They are very useful when you are unsure of something. A small book on basic care should not cost much, or you can borrow from a library.
