Can you eat the seeds of a water lily?

My new parakeets wont eat their seeds or drink water.?

  • My parakeets love to chirp along to other parakeets online... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EN-yjGQ_ZT4 is a great one but I would like more videos so they can chirp to. is it normal that they won't eat fruits the first few days after getting them? also, they won't eat their seed mix but they will eat the spray millet... I hear they're a treat but how do I get them off of it? I will give it to them as a treat only once a week or every two weeks . On the other hand, the lady at the pet shop said always leave a thing of it in there... but why should I do that? Won't they never eat there seeds this way? I would greatly appreciate an awnser to this question, considering the contradicting beliefs of feeding a keet millet. Also, i haven't seen them drink there water...

Its perfectly normal thats what happend with my parakeets when i just got them. Its takes time for them to get used to you and their new surroundings. Well birds would eat their food but you shouldnt have put millet spray yet. Take it out then whenever they get hungry the would go look for food and eat their seeds. Once they start eating then you may put millet spray in because by then they would know that their real food is over their and that millet spray is just a snack. I give my budgies millet spray evry 2 days its last. They have millet everyday and sure they eat alot of millet because they love it but they still eat their seeds. Just give your parakeets time im sure they would eat, drink, & be happy. Birds need millet everyday its like you need umm a treat everyday. Birds get addicted to millet like children get addicted to candy. And dont bother them dont stick your hand in their cage yet first you must talk to them in a soft gentle voice. Everyday once a day until they get used to your voice and you. Give them about 2 weeks then you would be ready for the next step. Which is TAMING them. It could be a little difficult but you'll get it. And you asked is it normal that they won't eat fruits the first few days after getting them? Of course it is. They are just adjusting to their new home if they are still very scared after 2 weeks then give them more time. Here is what i do to feen my parakeets fruit. Step 1] Get a face towel a very little one Step 2] Wrap him/her up in it Step 3] make sure only their heads stick out then try petting them on their head Step 4] now you just get a small piece of fruit and put it in their beaks then they would eat it. Thats what i do. Well everything that seems wierd is normal because they are New so give them time. Hope i helped Good Luck

relax their probably scared and it will take a while more or less about a week. Also if your feeding it millet spray then their eating, right? Also dont freak out about the water because They cant go without water for more then 24 hours....so they must have already been drinking behind your back...hehe....just chill their getting used o their new home.

Were the birds weaned when you bought them? It may be that they were never taken off being handfed. If so, you need to take them to a veterinary clinic right away. Also, they should be fed a pellet diet, not just seeds. Seeds are too high in fat and can greatly impact your bird's health, shortening their lifespan. Another thing is you should NEVER, EVER leave fresh fruits in their cage for more than two hours. If you've left them in there for days, they are spoiled and may be making your birds sick. If they don't eat on their own, they will need to be professionally weaned or you may have to handfeed them with baby bird formula. In many states, it is illegal for a pet store/breeder to sell an unweaned bird so I would check with whoever you got them from that they were weaned.

They are soo cute :D Try going to http://talkbudgies.com/ Your birds are fine. They just have to get used to certain things. Could be any number of reasons why they aren't eating. As for drinking water. I only caught my babies drinking a few times. Parakeets don't drink a lot. It's like a blink of an eye.
