  • Well I have two a males and I would like to get two females and getting the vision cages the large one and put them together,But i'm not sure if they will fight, idk too much about birds so I need help Well where I got my two parakeets they said they're both males,But Will adding two more parakeets will they fight I want two females but won't mind getting another male but really don't want them to fight.

  • Answer:

It depends on how big the cage is that you have them in. If you put a large amount of any species in a confined space they're going to fight for their own space, but if the cage is large enough to accommodate the four birds than they will be fine.

In a cage, I like to give the birds one square foot of space each. Then they have plenty of space, and also providing them with two water bowls and two feed bowls allows the birds to eat/drink where they want. Remember, you must quarantine newly-purchased budgies for at least one month before introducing them to the original pair. So, you'll need a spare cage for the new arrivals and that cage will need to be placed in a completely separate room. The reason for quarantining is so that the original birds don't get diseased through the new birds, or vice-versa. When introducing the budgies to each other, first put the two cages in the same room, or in the same cage but with a divider in between the pairs. This way, they can see each other but are unable to injure one another. Do this for three or four days. If they are tame, you can release all the birds into the same room for some free-flight (supervise!) so they can play and interact. When they are comfortable in each others presence, transfer both pairs into the new cage. Supervise them for half-an-hour, and if a fight transpires, separate them and start over. * Also, budgies fly horizontally - not vertically - so the cage should be wider than it is tall. The top shouldn't have to be fancy with decorative curves and everything as it is just a waste of space. Get a square-topped one as they are much better. Good luck! ¢нєιє

they may get territorial, unless you have rather large cage. make sure there is enough room for all of them to be flying at once!
