How difficult is it for someone to open a reptile pet store?

I am an extremely experienced reptile handler currently in school for a BS in Zoology. I am hoping to become a herpetologist. Lately, I have been debating on whether opening a reptile pet store would be a good future possibility (instead of working in a sanctuary or snake milking lab). I would probably breed a lot of my own reptiles and make sure to have a unique variety of herps. Anyone have any experience with reptile pet store management/ownership? Tell me all about it!!!!!!!! please :)

The truth is your plan is not a very good one because you cannot start a business and only provide services, product, and animals that you enjoy. When in business you need to choose items and pets that are in the trend. Here's an estimate breakdown of a % of sales worth annually: Small animals - 17% Reptiles - 23% Fish - 51% Birds - 9% Heck, I'm not a huge fan of hamsters but I gotta carry them because that's 17% of profit that I need to help cover the bills.
