How do I know whether my ball python is pregnant?

How do i know if my ball python has mites?

  • I was handling my baby ball python when i saw something crawling on it. It was a black beetle like insect that was about the size of a fruit fly. So far it is the only one i found on any of my snakes including her cage mate. So i wanted to know if there are any other ways to know if she has mites. And ways to treat her. But i have had her for a month now and she looks pretty healthy and eats well so is it possible that it was just a bug that crawled into her tub or was in the newspapers in her cage or something? Thanks

Years ago my boa and ball python both had mites and it was a pain in the *** to get rid of them. I had to do several treatments on both of them and completely clean both enclosures several times. First off, if you see one then you probably have an infestation bc mites travel in packs. The first thing you Want to do is remove all of the substrate in the enclosure and our both snakes on white paper towels. This will help you to see the mites. Second, take everything out and either throw it out and replace with new stuff or whatever you decide to keep should be thoroughly disinfected and boiled in water. Third, purchase prevent-a-mite. You can get this at any let store. Ivermectin is another treatment option available but I would avoid this bc it can harm or even kill your snake. This might be a good time to quarenteen your snakes as well. I would keep them separate until the mite issue is eradicated. It would actually be a good idea to keep them in their own enclosure permanently but that's a whole other issue! Food luck!

If she is laying in her water bowl she has mite. That is the biggest sign unless you see the mites. If you see one there are a lot on her that you cant see. I suggest getting mite spray and spray her and everything in the cage then repeat two day later.
