How to open up a pet store?

How and can i sue a pet store for this?

  • I recently got a bearded dragon (i had her for 2 weeks now) from a pet store near my house. i had no idea that she had no calcium in her bones what so ever and she was barely eating (about 2 crickets per day and also she would barely poop). When i first came to the store, she was in a small terrarium with no heat, no UV and not even 1 thing to climb on and she wasn't even picking herself up with her legs ( i thought she was just tired at the time, it was getting pretty late). They also gave me wrong instruction on how to take care of her. They told me to only feed her ONE mealworm every THREE days and said i didnt need UV, heating, etc. I took her to the vet and they gave her an X-ray and you can see that she is almost completely see-through (meaning her bones are very weak and has no calcium) on the paper thing they print x-rays on. They also gave her a shot with D3 and calcium and mentioned that she could of died in a few days if she was still at the pet store. The vet also said that we need to come next week to possibly get another shot which is going to cost me even more money...The pet store lied and told me that she was healthy and i ended up spending over $100 on the vet and the pet store still had the courage to sell her more expensive than other stores (the other stores were pretty far away). so would i win a lawsuit against this store? and how can i sue them? I currently have her in the right conditions with: heating lamp, 10.0 UV light, things to climb on, powder to put on her crickets, and liquid calcium stuff i put in her water and give to her with a dropper and take her out to the sun everyday. She currently cannot pick herself off the ground, doesnt eat a lot, barely poops, walks

First you can report them to the police for animal cruelty. Then if you want to start a lawsuit your going to have to find a local lawyer to see who will do it. You might be able to google it. I will tell you right now if you lost less then 1000 dollars for the animal it wont be worth a lawsuit you will only spend more money. You will have to pay for the lawyer and a couple other things. My dad is a lawyer and he sees cases like this when people are only out a little bit of money and it is just not worth it. Your best bet would be turning them into the police and getting the rest of the animals out of their.

At the very least, you need to report them to the humane society or whatever animal rights groups are in your area. Something needs to be done to shut that store down so they can't harm animals anymore. I'm not sure about a lawsuit though, you can call a lawyer that offers a free consultation and ask.

Hi, it probably wouldn't be worth suing them, but I would report them to your local animal welfare group and let them visit the store and run checks, if your dragon has been kept in this way then the chances are that more are suffering the same fate and they need to be stopped.

Buyer beware. This is what happens when you purchase any animal/pet from a pet store. They usually obtain their animals from puppy mills, kitten mills, etc. They're often sickly and poorly bred and I would strongly believe the same applies to their birds, reptiles, amphibians, etc. You can ask a lawyer online for free (Google for it) but I think in this case, perhaps you should have done your research and been more informed.

I hope you can sue them thats horrible what they done!!
