Why do dogs run, bark, or growl in their sleep?

I personally think they can and do dream. Why must humans be the only ones who are capable of dreaming?

they are having a dream . just liike how people sleep walk/talk . they sleep growl/"run"/baark :D

i say dreaming! i don't care if people say dogs cannot dream, but i know they can. i can understand a little leg twitch here and there isn't a dream. but actual barking, growling, legs moving in a running action... that's a dream, no other explaination! all of those cannot just be reflexes :) my nine year old American Eskimo growls and barks in her sleep, and even sometimes moves her legs like she's running. it's funny to listen to her try to bark while she's asleep because it's muffled since she's sleeping. lol ...but watch this video! and tell me he's not dreaming http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2BgjH_CtIA http://www.youtube.com/user/MarinaHD2001#p/f

ha ha my dog twitches in her sleep! LOL. IDK what she would be dreaming about....

Why does my husband take up the bed, hit me by accident, and sometimes talk in his sleep? hes dreaming; and having a really active one at that. I personally have never herd anyone say a dog cant dream. they experience life just like us. they have things that go on in their day to day lives just like us. its like someone saying a baby cant dream...rediculous! of course babies and dogs dream; they even dream in the womb. you can dream in sounds and emotions, not everything has to be in words or make sense (like any dreams make sense). mine dreams of eating. i know this because he chews. sometimes im sure he dreams of chasing birds or running in the park. hes a happy little guy and dreams are what makes his realaties a little more fun :)
