Getting rid of cold sore scabs?

Why is my dog getting scabs?

  • She is a 5 year old German Shephard, and she's getting scabs with ripped off skin and fur, particularily one on her rump about an inch in diameter. We know she isn't getting into any fights, but we still need to find out what's wrong! Is she sick or something?

    With out knowing what she is doing I would suggest seeking the advice of the vet because it can be a number of things. She could be going under something and getting her fur caught causing a scab and then scratching it off again. But seek the advice of your vet it's better for the dog.

Fleas' , Bites, and maybe itching to much? Go see a vet is my advice :D

I suggest seeing a vet about this. This could be because of Fleas, Ticks, getting her skin caught in something?

Is she scratching? If she's scratching likely causes would be fleas, mites, fungus, bacterial infection, allergies. If she's not scratching the options are quite different.. autoimmune disorders, etc. Start at the vet.

My dog gets them as well, Maybe your dog is just itching herself... Thats what happened to mine. Are you putting anything in your grass to irritate her skin? She also could have allergies. I say take her to the vet to be on the safe side.

sound to big for flea bite ,mosquito bites that may have gotten infected maybe , Its probably is allergies, can you bath her it may be easier to through the fur to the skin when its wet , cheers

my gsd cross has had a similar complaint for years , he has been tested for fleas , mite , ticks ,ringworm,,Leishmaniasis,, we have changed his food , thought it could have been a pollen allergy but get it in the winter only yesterday was someone asking about skin complaints ,,. i will repost the link for you , http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+2111&aid=424 this link has plenty of skin complaints listed , i went through them all and i still no wiser , after 12 years of him having this good luck , and if you do find out whats wrong , can you please let me know ,.
