My face is swollen, help?

Chihuahua face swollen HELP! plz read all info.?

  • we have a chihuahua and a bit ago i noticed right above his actual nose like his snout was raised it looked kind of like a rhino horn. now his lip the side of his mouth, his eye, the skin around his eye like on top of his head all on that same side are very swollen. he keeps itching himself and he lays down to sleep and jumps up every 2 seconds like hes got a rlly bad itch that hits him or hes being bitten. i gave him a bath to help soothe his itch but hes dry and is started again. his face is so swollen i cant bare to look at him it almost makes me cry. he keeps itching /biting all over his body. we tried to give him benadryl it didnt help either. i dont know if hes having an allergic reaction or got bit or stung but it seems like more of his face keeps swelling and its been like 5 hours. he doesnt appear ot be in any pain just cant sit still bc of the itching and apparently where his face is swollen doesnt hurt either bc he keeps coming up and rubbing it on me like it itches. and he keeps whining bc he's itchy. i dont know how else to try and help him or whats wrong : [ please help?

I would assume that your dog has been stung and has had an allergic reaction. Please take him to the vet as soon as possible this could be very serious!

Do you have some sort of problem with taking your dog to the VET? If you gave him Benadryl (hope you did the right amt.) and it's done nothing - it's time for the Vet. It does sound like a bee sting, or spider bite...but we wouldn't really know that - everything is a guess on this end. Just like some people, some dogs are extremely allergic to things like this, and for some dogs it's just down right dangerous.

Head to the Vet.

tak him to the vet!!! they will help him better then any of us can

My female shih tzu got stung by a bee a month ago her eye was swollen shut i didn't know what had happened to her at first but she does like to chase after bees so i figured out that was what it was i just kept applying a warm wash cloth to her eye she scratched at it as well.im not saying that's what going on with your dog but could be your dog sounds a bit more swollen then my dog..if i were you i'd take the dog to the vet and see to be on the safe side a vet visit is usually 25 dollars ..or you can ride it out a couple of days and see if it goes away but if not i take it to the vet rite away.

It could be anything, take him to a vet.

You need to stop trying to treat your Chi yourself and take the poor thing to the vet. His throat is going to swell next and when it does, he will stop breathing and die. Only a vet can diagnose and treat your dog. By the time you get this answer, it would be over 5 hours already, that you have done nothing. That's 5 hours to long. You should have taken this poor little guy to the vet the second you noticed any swelling. He is whining because he's in pain, not because it's itching. If you love your Chihuahua and you don't want to lose him, then take him to the vet NOW! You've waited too long already and wasted too much time trying to treat him unsuccessfully yourself. He needs a vet NOW! You better get moving!!! Just a little NOTE, in case you don't know this. If a dog is sick or injured and you don't take the dog immediately to the vet for treatment, it is Against The Law and it is considered to be Animal Abuse. If someone Reports you, they will take your Chihuahua away from you, you will get a hefty fine and you will possibly go to Jail for Animal Neglect. Think about that for a second. Your Chihuahua desperately needs a vets help and you are doing nothing to provide him with veterinary care. That is very irresponsible. Your Chihuahua is depending on you to help him and you are letting him down in a very big way. If you cannot afford a vet, then surrender your Chihuahua to the vet. They will treat him and then adopt him out to another family, who can afford to provide him with veterinary care.

I hope you took the dog to the vet and that he is okay. People can die from allergic reactions. Dogs can too. I hope it isn't too late.

Remove any stingers from your pet with a pair of tweezers, your fingers or even the corner of a credit card. If you are able to scrape it out, it will prevent extra venom from going into the wound.
