Feeling sick, but I don't know what it's from?

My dog was feeling sick and in a matter of 8 hours she was dead.I dont know what happened?

  • She vomitted once and had the diharia once also. She was acting weak and not with it. I called the vet and he said that she probably ate something bad, and she'd get over it. I believed him and gave her gaterade to help hydrate her. Also she was breathing different and kind of whimmpering. I went to bed and woke up to find her dead lying on my bed. I don't know what happened.

Have you upset any neighbors? Sounds like rat poison wrapped in bacon.

A necropsy is the only way to determine the cause of death. I don't know what DIHARIA is? Do you mean diarrhea?

Sounds like a possible bloat to be honest.

Sorry to hear about your dog did you not have a necropsy done on your dog could of been poisoned it could also be a number of things i am sorry for your loss....

I'm sorry for your loss but I would suggest getting a NEW vet before you get another dog. I've never heard of a vet making a diagnosis over the phone without telling you they couldn't tell you anything without seeing the dog. So MANY variables could be involved from parvo to poison and anywhere in between. Also, if it were parvo you have to go to extensive cleaning measures before you can even consider getting another dog....now without a necropsy you will never know and might jeopardize another dog :(

Perhaps she had a seizure or stroke? Maybe she had some sort of illness? My dog, Sam, had anemia and we didn't even know it until it was too late. You could have the vet examine the body if you wish.

Neither do I. If you feel the need to know, take her body to the vet and have a necropsy done. The symptoms certainly weren't alarming. Could she have been poisoned?

then have vet do a necropsy only way to know what happened i would have told you same thing from call sounded like a normal episode of new dog, new owner another reason to take to vet that can actually examine them
