How can I get my pets back-they were taken by local animal shelter.?

Not if you've been charged with Animal Cruelty, it's kind of hard to come off a charge like that to be honest. There's a pretty good chance you won't get them back.

if you were unable to keep your home clean and in livable condition, the you are unable to care and give a dog and four cats the proper medical care, food, and shelter that they deserve and you should have surrendered them to the authorities. They would not have taken the animals if they did not feel they had a rock solid case against you and you are not going to get the animals back again. It's unfortunate for you that you have fallen on hard times and have had your animals taken from you, but you need to think of their well being. Without proper food, shelter and medical care, your pets can become very ill and die.

If your home is in that dire shape there are more important things to worry about then whether or not the local shelter will put your pets in a safe environment. I hate to say it but it sounds to me like you need to get your priorities in order. I cannot think of any place that will help you get your pets back if your house is practically falling apart.

I hope someone else can be more optimistic/helpful, but you haven't made your case to me. While you clearly love these animals a lot, I'm not convinced from what you wrote that you provided an adequate environment for them. On the other hand, it sounds like the city is unduly strict.

go to court about it then fit for them . go pay for them maybe and move away from the house

unless you fix your house up and pay fees, you won't get them back. you're home must have been very bad for animals to be taken from you. i'm sorry to hear, but you put yourself in that situation. i hope all works out for you.

In most places, they are considered yours until you sign them over or until the court awards them to the shelter, which it seems like neither has happened. They should still be considered yours, no matter what the shelter tells you. As far as the shelter staff not being allowed to interact with them to keep from "tampering with evidence," that is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. Shelters normally document the state of the animals, check for skin problems, take photos, and draw blood to collect evidence when they arrive. There is no reason for the staff to stay away from them. As far as getting them back, it depends on what you mean by disrepair and uncleanliness. Were the litter boxes always kept clean, or were they going all over the floor? Is the house infected with bugs or anything? What exactly is wrong with the house?

Since it sounds like you cant take care of them to the best of your abilitys get a familt member to adopt them so you can still see them and make sure they are okay. The most humane and caring thing for the animals to do is just give them up to the shelter, until you get back on you feet

I'm sorry you don't have your babies. I don't agree that you can't visit them, and I don't know the circumstances of them condemning the home so I can't say anything. Cities can condemn a house for anything, really. They condemned my family house simply because the heat was turned off and we lived there every weekend. Yes, they're crazy. Personally, I would try to get people to help you get your home in order more quickly, or get a family member to adopt them, so you can get them back quicker. I will say one thing, though. I'm so glad you don't live in my city. Our 'humane' society would have euthanized them. *hugs* Good luck getting them back!
