Chow chow dog vs a poodle?

  • We had a poodle when we first got our chow chow puppy,5 years later out poodle past away and we only had the chow,now our chow chow is 12 years old and we got a new poodle puppy... our chow chow is not growling at the puppy but she is scared of her? Is a chow prone to biting another dog? By the way they are both female

    The puppy is probably very active and a 12 yr old dog is probably not too happy about a spacey puppy trying to play. Chows were bred to be guard dogs so they are not the most patient of breeds, but a 12 yr old will only take so much. Just don't leave them alone unattended.

Nice to know you don't know anything about your own breed. 12 year old dog. Young puppy that hasn't learned boundaries yet. Her behavior is NORMAL. No she's not scared she's just interested in an off the wall pup. MOST senior dogs aren't. She may warm up more once the pup ages, is trained and settles down. She may not. Its really impossible to say for sure.

if you raised your chow chow well and had her around other dogs before, she shouldn't bite the other dog.. chows are actually very cat like and they usually want to go do their own thing... she will eventually get used to the new puppy but might be a bit jealous at first.. make sure you give plenty attention to the chow as well.. good luck (:
