Is Modacar.com a reliable website to buy from?

Is www.puppyfinders.com a reliable website to find and buy a puppy on?

  • I am looking for a new puppy but i have just now found the website and i have never heard of it beofre so i was just curious if it is a reliable source to find and buy a new puppy. Thanks for any replys.

  • Answer:

NO NO & NO!!! Only BYB and Puppy Mill / Irresponsible Breeders advertise there! Same for Craigslist, Kijij, ETC... responsible breeders don't advertise like that, a majority meet them in the Ring or at a Dog Show. If you're looking for a specific breed, go to the Breed club of America or UK, or a shelter such as http://www.petfinder.com/ Thanks for asking first. ETA: Puppyfind is just as bad, still a BYB / Mill shop.

NO ! Just an online pet store. Go to a reputable breeder and you may find them more reasonable and know what you are getting. Why spend money on the garbage of the breed when you can get the best for the same. You can find one through AKC. If you want a mutt the shelters are full of them.

No, do not buy your puppy from there. They ship the puppies to you, and that is a PUPPY MILL. If oyu want a puppy, go to a REPUTABLE breeder directly where they show you the mother and the puppies and the health form.. blah blah blah. Or een go to a rescue or a shelter, they have puppies there, i know for sure. I volenteer at a rescue and 6 yellow lab puppies just came from animal control. Please save a life. :)

Either find a reputable breeder (breeder with the mother on site, knows about the breed, active in showing and rescue, etc), go to the shelter or find a rescue group. A backyard breeder/puppymill puppy is a gamble, and a poor one at that. You may be setting yourself up for a lifetime of health, behavioral and/or tempermant problems. We have a mastiff we adopted from a rescue, and while he's gorgeous to us, you can definitely tell he wasn't well bred. We're expecting some pretty serious hip/joint problems as he gets older. However, we knew that going into it. We also have the benefit of having some very informed people ready and willing to help us out with any issues we may have with him. That's the benefit of adopting through a reputable rescue or going with a reputable breeder.

Please, please, please go to your local shelter and adopt a dog from there. You can find them on petfinder.com. If you purchase a puppy from one of these breeders/puppy mills you are just making the over population problem worse. You might even be able to find the kind of dog you are looking for at a shelter. Please go over to youtube and type in "puppy mill" or "dog being euthanized" and watch a couple of these videos. If you have half a heart, you will be changed FOREVER. If you can stomach it type in the "the kill box" and listen to those dogs SCREAM as they die. I will NEVER forget it and neither will you. Here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMR9scfrsx0 CAUTION VERY GRAPHIC The "kill box" is happening all over this country EVERY day of EVERY year. It is insane. Well over 5 MILLION healthy pets are put to sleep every year is this country. This is the very same thing Hilter was doing to people, only we are doing it to dogs and cats. Please remember when you get a little puppy they need a lot of your time and care. You will need to teach it, just like you would your child. Sometimes getting a little older dog, a year or so, can be much better. Last, have your pet spayed or neutered.

NO! First off, THANK YOU for asking this before you get one of those BYB/puppy mill puppies. If you are looking for a dog I would try http://petfinder.com instead (petfinder is normally used by shelters and rescues). If you are looking for a puppy of a certain breed find the breed club.

NO, petfinder is a good website if you aren't looking for a specific breed. Most who use this are humane societies and shelter advertising the pets they have available. If you are looking for a specific breed then I'd look on akc.org and look that their specific breed clubs. They will have breeders who get genetic testing done and their dogs have proven to be quality.

puppyfinders is HORRIBLE. try petfinder, and I would try puppyfind.com (not puppyfinder) puppyFIND.com to look for a puppy, but only if you can go to the breeder's facility and check it out. Don't order one from across the country.

I used TerrificPets.com to get my Choc. Lab. Just make sure you're calling an actual breeder and not a store. Many pet stores advertise there. But a lot of breeders do as well. Every person I called leading up the purchase of my puppy was an actual breeder. As well, you'll be showing up to the location of the puppy, most of the time it's someones home, so you'kk be able to see the parents. Just make sure to ask the right questions. If the dogs they bred weren't also their family pets, I wouldn't buy from them. Just be smart about it. As well, there aren't many mixed breeds advertised on the site.
