How to get old and new dogs to become friends?

  • how so i get my Miniature rat terrier of 7 yrs old to become friends with my new 10 week old white lab all the rat terrier does is hide and growl

    I had 2 Shih Tzu's, ages 2 & 3, when I brought home a little black one. To avoid jealousy, and to insure that the oldest would remain the "boss", I made sure I brushed them, put them through their tricks, give them treats, put their harnesses on for walks, all in their age order, oldest first. The little one is now 2 and still tries to sneak in to be the first at anything, but I maintain the order as I'm the real alpha dog. They get along wonderfully. Just make sure you don't do anything to make the terrier feel that you love or favor the lab more. Good luck.

give him 2 weeks ,don't force it,just watch them,make sure the puppy isn't hurt about 2 to 3 weeks,when the terrier realizes,the new pup is not going to leave
