  • Answer:

go to the humane society and save a larger dog. (husky isnt a "large" dog though, its a medium sized one") if you tell her you want to go to the humane society to save a life, there's a much better chance that she'll sympathize and want to save a dog's life as well and take you to get one. plus if its about the money with her, you wont have to worry about paying thousands of dollars for a dog from a breeder. p.s.- don't get a dog then give it away, that puts a lot of stress on the dog and can also have it sent to the pound where it may be killed, but if it's sent to the pound and not killed, another dog will be since it adds to the population in there, yknow. dont get the dog then just get rid of it though!! so if you think this will happen again, just dont bother trying to convince her, for the dog's sake.

The fact of the matter is, there is a great chance that you infact can not take care of it. Huskies are not just fun and games, they are an INCREDIBLE amount of work, they are stubborn and very persistent when you have to train them. They shed a lot, and when not properly trained can have a very high prey drive. Not only that, they eat quite a bit, and take up a lot of room. It is not your house, or your money that will be caring for it and quite honestly, it doesn't sound like you can do anything to convince your mom that you can care for it, unless you lied. I'm guessing this is not what you want to hear, but a medium-sized dog that needs hours of exercise daily, is not an easy comittment for a twelve-year-old.

Your mom's house -- her rules. If she likes small lap dogs, she will absolutely HATE a Siberian husky...so you'll talk her into it, and a month later she'll hate the dog and "get rid of" it. So not only will you still not have a Siberian husky, you'll have also put one into the rescue/shelter system, where it may be euthanized when they can't find it a home. You up for that?

Your mom doesn't like big dogs. She doesn't want one in her house. Deal with it.

To be honest I think you should listen to your mum and dad because if they are scared of big dogs its not fair you pressuring them into getting you a dog. A dog is allot of hard work hun. You need to think about this carefully. You will not get many holidays and things as you have to think of what to do with the dog. All im saying is a dog is very hard work. I have 2 boxers and they are very very hard work so please listen to your mum and dad. Hope I could help.

Do you have the energy to keep up with a husky? They need to be walked several miles a day to stay happy, and are independent- you need a fenced yard- they will run through invisible fenses, and run away to get more exercise when you let them free. Ours would get out and do 20 mile loops around town- we know because our neighbor was biking and caught him 10 miles from us. All in a couple hours. Huskies, if you yell for them to come back to you, will stop, think about it, and normally decide to ignore you and decide to run- they are not loyal in that aspect. I have owned several huskies over the years, and would not get one again, except if I want a running partner.

In 6 years you'll be grown and on your own. You can have a whole house full of Huskies if it pleases you. It may seem like a long way off, but it's much closer than you realize. In the meantime, your mom's house, her budget, her rules. Maybe a compromise would be a very small Husky type breed, such as a German spitz or an American eskimo? She gets her little housedog and you get your Nordic appearance. Do you have any friends or relatives who own Huskies? If so, hang out with them and see first hand what is really involved in their day to day care an management. In a home that is geared toward their prodigious need for exercise and has good Husky proof fencing system, they are terrific. But they also make lots of noise (howls, yodels, screams) and dig like badgers and jump like deer. They can splinter a wooden fence in minutes. An invisible fence is a joke to them. They can have off the charts prey drive.
