Kitten keeps dunking her entire head into her water bowl?
-
I'm watching my cousins kitten, and she keeps dunking her entire head into the water. When I put it high so puts her entire head into it, when I put it low she bats at it and plays with it. Is this normal for a kitten? Will she try to drink the water or just keep dunking her head in it and bating at it? Also, when will this kitten go to sleep, she keeps playing and not sleeping at all. Please and thank you

Answer:
Oh, your cousin's kitten sounds adorable and fun to watch. Yes, this is normal, if she had a toy, she would probably drop it in the water bowl and watch it float around. I think your kitty enjoys the moving water and splash, which is more fun to watch than just sitting there watching the water not move. She might also be hot and is using the water to cool down. As far as sleeping, kittens are very active and won't be as active when she get older, so enjoy this early stage in her life. To make her tired, feed her before bedtime, so she has a full belly and play with her more during the day so she'll be tired by bedtime. Good luck to you and your cousin.

It's normal. My cat takes showers with me and dunks his head in the water and he plays in his water bowl. Cats are like that she's probably really bored. Get her a toy.
Most cats are nocturnal. The kitten will sleep when it gets tired (most likely all day) as for the water, some cats just like getting wet.
No, it is not normal for a cat to dunk it's head into the water bowl but batting at it is not unusual. Cats are more active at night than any other time (they are nocturnal). You can play with her with a string or something that will keep her very active then feed her a meal & maybe she will settle down. If you need to sleep just move the litterbox, her food & water (but separate the bathroom from the kitchen) into your room. Good luck!
A very very small majority of cats actually enjoy playing in water. This is normal, and if she gets thirsty, I'm sure she will drink it sooner of later. Just make sure her ears don't get water logged, or it could cause an infection and pain to her. Also, if you play with her for about an hour, she might become uninterested any time. If not, that's okay. Just let her play with a toy and she will probably find a spot somewhere eventually and curl up and go to sleep.
