Is there any possible way to get lighter eyes?

What is a good way to get a Farm Kittens Eyes free from Mucus and Crustiness? Please Help and Respond!?

  • HI, My Uncle's Female Farm Cat had a Litter of 4 Kittens several weeks ago and they are tommorow when we go to see them they will be 7 Weeks and 2 Days Old and their Eyes are getting full of Mucus very often and they get crusty and we think it might be from the Hay that we put inside their Nesting Box so we took all of the Hay out to see if that would help their Eyes. What doapproach should we take to help get our Kittens Eyes back to normal and free of Mucus and Crustyness? Please Respond, Thank You for Your Help and GOD Bless!

  • Answer:

Use a cloth and bathe there eyes with warm salty water twice a day if able to do it that often but at least once a day, there eyes should clear up in a few days to a week if not antibiotics might be in order. Ps its an infection and not from the hay, so you can safely put it back in (they will like that)

They could have an eye infection which probably isn't the case. So I recommend using wet wipes or a wet napkin very gently to remove the mucus and crustiness. They may have that just because they're kittens.

At that old and the fact that they all have the same problem sounds like they could have a viral infection of their eyes which would need veterinary intervention. You should just use a warm compress and gently wipe their eyes to loosen the crusted mucus. Be sure to not use anything that may irritate their eyes any further such as soap or chemicals. Hope this helps.

If the mucus is green they have conjunctivitis and they need some eye ointment thats prescribed by a vet. Or they sell an eye ointment called Teramycin at Pet stores and that will treat it. Its like a cold they get probably from living outdoors. Hope you will get the mom and kittens fixed so this problem doesn't increase.

It might mean the mother isn't cleaning them well enough. This can lead to blindness and infection, among other things. I would get a warm washcloth, and wipe their eyes in the morning and evening, at the minimum. This should help the mucus and crustiness go away. Keep them clean!
