How To Take Care Of Eyes?

How do I take care of a kitten that has just opened her eyes?

  • My friend found a stray kitten and I'm going to keep it. I've never looked after a kitten before. I've always been a dog person.I'm not sure how to take care of her and feed her.(Should I get a bottle or get a little bowl?) I live in a dorm room and want to keep her safe and comfortable.I'm also a little worried about the cold. It's pretty chilly where I live. Any advice would be great ! Thank you soo much in advance!

Okay if shes just opened her eyes she is 2 weeks or under. It is Essential and Veryyy important to go get milk replacement formula ASAP. you will need to feed the kitten according to the directions of the formula But mostly about 5-6 times per day. And yes you should use a kitten bottle. Once the kitten is about 6-8 weeks you can put her on a dry "KITTEN" formula food. Also if you need to leave food for her when you arent home you can leave out some Royal Canin "Babycat" wet food. just try to comfort her because if they are taken from the mom before 8 weeks it can be traumatizing for them. A good dry food to put her on once shes 6-8 weeks is either Royal Canin Babycat, or Blue Buffalo Kitten! if you have anymore questions let me know i have raised 3 litters of cats and they have all turned out very healthy

There's a site kitten-rescue.com that will tell you all the aspects of caring for her. If she really just opened her eyes shes gotta be like 2 wks or less. You will need to bottle feed her kitten formula about every 3-4 hours round the clock -- read on that site about amounts to feed and how much weight she should gain. Baby kittens have tiny stomachs so they can only eat so much at a time, and it takes a lot of energy to grow. so if she is not getting enough you will need to increase the frequency You will also need to help her to pee and poop. (see that website). If she's under about 3 wks she's too young to do that on her own and would get very ill if you dont help her. She also needs to be kept warm. Get like a box, and a heating pad and put the pad on low under a towel on the floor of half of the box (so she can crawl away if it is too warm. That same site tells how to make a pouch you can carry her in next to your heart. It would be comforting to her to be next to your heartbeat and your warmth and your scent-- you're her new mama now!

cats usually stop drinking from their mother at 5-6 weeks, so a bottle would be the best way to feed it until it is about this age... then a bowl will be a good idea, will take a week but she will learn.. also cats have good fur and when the seasons change so does their thickness in fur.. so in winter it gets thick and in summer it maults and gets thinner. she will be able to stay reasonabley warm herself but getting her a bed with warm blankets for her to lie on is a good idea. some cats prefer to sleep with ppl so if u dont mind letting her sleep on your bed the heat from your body wil keep her warm. good luck :)

please keep always the room warm and cover the kitten body with wool's cloth.
