  • i have a cat that needs to go to Utah, i live in Oklahoma and she has had been having some problems like peeing, and i think she may be sick i am not sure cause she has a bump on her tummy, and her tummy is tight, so... please let me know what i can do and please let me know witch airlines would be the best for her, and get there safely, please let me know if you know any thing about the airlines or her tummy. and she is spayed.

  • Answer:

Why does this sick cat have to be put on a plane and shipped to another state?? She shouldn't go anywhere until she's been seen by a vet. A vet can tell you how to best prepare her for her flight. Look up the topic online using specific keywords like 'cat-friendly airline,' or 'putting cat on a plane.' Peeing is a critically important function, and if your cat is having problems of any kind with that, a visit to a vet is essential. You're concerned about her arriving safely -- seems like seeing that she is well should be more of a concern.

You don't need to do anything. Just find the smallest box you can find so its cheaper ;)

FIRST THINGS FIRST. YOU NEED TO TAKE HER TO THE VET. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO RUN TESTS TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. A CAT MUST BE HEALTHY TO GO ON AN AIRLINE. UPON SHOWING UP FOR YOUR CATS FLIGHT, YOU NEED TO SHOW THAT THE CAT HAS ALL OF THE SHOTS REQUIRED TO CROSS STATE LINES. MY CATS WENT FROM CALIFORNIA TO IDAHO THROUGH ALASKA AIRLINES. THE STOP OVER WAS IN WASHINGTON WHERE THE WEATHER WAS NOT HOT. OTHER CARRIERS STOP IN COLORADO AND THE TARMACK WAS BLISTERING HOT........DURING THE SUMMER. THE VET WILL NEED TO GIVE A RABIES SHOT AND (I FORGOT) OTHER SHOTS SO THAT THEY ARE CLEAR TO CROSS STATE LINES.....YOU NEED TO GIVE THAT TO THE AIRLINES AS PROOF SO THAT THEY WILL LET YOUR CAT ON THE PLANE. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO ENCLOSE A SMALL BOX OF DRY FOOD AND WATER IN THE CAT CARRIER. I FROZE THE WATER IN THE CUP ATTACHED TO THE SIDE SO THAT IT MELTED SLOWLY AND THE CATS COULD DRINK THROUGH OUT THE FLIGHT. BUT AT FIRST, HER HEALTH MUST BE CLEARED OR SHE CAN DIE IN FLIGHT.......... BTW, HAVE HER CHECKED FOR URINARY TRACT INFECTION. SHE MIGHT NEED A COURSE OF ANTIBIOTICS AND SPECIAL FOOD. BEST WISHES FOR YOU AND YOUR KITTY.......

First I would find out what is wrong with the cat before you ship her. You will have to call the airlines for prices but figure about $125 for a one way ticket. I'd put in one of the pee pads in the carrier in case of accidents. She will need a health certificate from your vet no more then 10 days before the flight. And if she's traveling under plane in cargo, then you need a sturdy carrier. If she is traveling with you on board and under the seat, she needs one of the soft sided carriers that can fit under the seat in front of you. Do NOT sedate your cat when flying - no matter if the vet oks' it or not - cats react negatively to seditives and if they are partially out of it and throw up, they can choke to death.
