Why dont cats like to be smelled?

  • whenever i smell my cat she goes after me and growls. I dont understand why she does tht. My othe cats dont do tht just my girl cat isabelle.

    My girl cat, Emma doesn't like to be smelled either. I think hey don't like it when the hair is lightly pulled up. I rub my hand lightly the opposite direction of her fur and it makes her flinch and run away. And, they spend all that time washing their fur and pressing it down with their tongue. When you smell them, you're inhaling and pulling the fur up. Therefore, they don't like it when you subtly pull it up. My boy cat rarely cleans himself so I don't smell him so I don't know what he'd do if I did. :)
