Is my cat OK if he has a dry and warm nose?

Not sure what is wrong with my cat?

  • So we got our female cat about 3 or 4 months ago. We got her from a shelter and we presume she is 1 year old this August. When we got her, she got spayed right away before we took her home. She was very sick due to the surgery, etc, and the vet at the animal shelter gave us medication to fix it. She quickly cleared up. However, we've always thought that we had a "nerdy" cat as we call it. Here is why: - Her left eye is always runny (but never gooky or green). - Her left nose is slightly runny (and sometimes I have to get a booger off it) - She sneezes a lot (which produces a decent amount of snot) (recently, sometimes when she sneezes, it is slightly pink which I presume is blood) - She always is breathing like she has a stuffy nose or something stuck up in her nostril. - She has very lose, light colored, mucus covered poop. And when she finishes pooping, the last thing to come out is a clump of blood. (keep in mind, my cat is TOILET trained and not litter box trained so it would be very hard to get a sample) (we switched her to natural cat food and it seemed to help a little bit. I dont mean to be gross, and I can afford to take her to a vet (which I am planning on doing next week to discuss with a vet). However, it just never seemed alarming because she is very alert and playful. Mental she is fine and she eats and drinks great. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a cat like this. Is it ok? Is she just a "nerdy" cat? Or is there a more underlying serious problem I should be worried about? Her left no

There are any number of things that could be wrong with your cat. She needs to go to the vet. Generally any problems with bowels means there is some sort of parasite. Cats can get things other than worms. Blood in the stool is NEVER a good sign, last kitten I had with that ended up dying. Since your cat is older the chances of death by parasite are a lot slimmer than the chances are for a small kitten, but you should still get her checked out. The vet can acquire their own stool sample. It is uncomfortable and the cat wont like it but it will not hurt her. I would also have them do a leukemia and HIV test on her. I wouldn't trust the shelters records or what they say about her medical history. Shelters are so overcrowded anymore, they need to find animals homes and cannot afford to do all the medical testing on the animals that they should. I hope you take your kitty to the vet and I hope she gets to feeling better.

Hi there, Saw you question and can somewhat relate. I just took my cat to the vet today. For the past 2 days I have noticed her eyes glossy (more wet than usual) / a yellow discharge from her eye/ squinting and sneezing. I myself thought it was alergies or an eye infection. Well after it started progressing..I ended up freaking out and going to the vet. Turns out it wasnt an eye infection. It was an upper respiratory infection called feline herpes virus. 98% of cats get this, so dont freak out. Most get it as a kitten, some get it when stressed in changing environements (as mine did). If you havent had your cat get its shots for this, it may likely have it. My cat had no problem with her poops...so it could be somethign entirely different. As for personality, my cats acted fine too-kinda just physical cold symptoms.. Look for- pink-swollen eyes watery wet eyes eye tenderness eye **** sneezing heavy breathing if more then 2 of the following its probably the upper respiratory infection. It cost me 130 for the checkup and meds (meds were 50). I'll tell you they gave me L-Lysine paste (you can find caplets at the drug store and crush them in their food-its an amino acid that will fight the virus) and they gave me terramycin gel -an antibiotic to keep their eyes clean. Everyone told me it was an eye infection but it wasnt-Im glad I went to the vet..if your cat is having these symptoms get to a vet and they'll give you the same stuff. Your cat should be alright in about 2 weeks with medication Hope this helps!

Well , Idkk Bout That . Just Keep An Eye On Her And See What She Does Reguraly , She Might Seem Fine , But There Could Also Be Something Wrong . You Could Take Her To The Vet Just To Check Her Out Or Just Clean Her Eyes And Nose Everyday Did The Medication Had Any Side Effect .? Just Keep An Eye On Her , Care For Her Until She See's A Vet

im not sure whats up with your cat :/ i think you should take her to the vet

I dont know whats up with your cat, but I would definetly take her to the vet. AND I would not wait till next week.

First off your cat has a something like a cold. It could kill her.(My cat did this too cause by her sleep on top of the vent.) Second if she having trouble going and it's not her food it maybe something the vet will have to take care of.

sounds like your cat either has an infection or allergies get it check out
