firstlymget him checked for a urinary tract infection. secondly it could just be a sign that his annoyed, lacks attention due to other cats and trying to be dominant

Honestly, I've had the same problem with our male cat. He's about 12 years old. We have 3 cats and he is the one that always does this. I have found that something is pissing him off to do so. Maybe his catbox isn't clean or I'm not giving him as much attention that he'd like. If I cater to both, he's ok. I've nailed it down to either a dominance thing or a neglect thing. If you know what I mean. I know what you are going through. It makes you want to get rid of them, but you can't because they are family. We have a 1 year old daughter and when he does "spray", he does so on her stuff. That tells me that we aren't paying enough attention to him. I married into my cats. My wife had them before I met her. I've researched and I heard they live up to 20+ years. Ugh. Those are my thoughts. Good luck...
