How do I convince my parents to let me get a hamster even though I have a cat?

    Your parents are worried that your cat will kill the hamster (you should be too). Try giving away your cat and ask them again. Also try cleaning the litter box first thing in the morning before you go to school, when you come home from school and right before you go to bed. Once a month take all of the litter out and discard it. Scrub the box with a disinfectant. That should take care of any odors.

trust me dont get a hamster, there only fun for awhile because they dont do much, gerbils are way better :) i have 2, there so fun to watch and play with and dont smell that much..

dont get a hamster there boring viscious and keep you awake gerbils are better i have 5 cats and 2 gerbils and my bro has 2 gerbils any way gerbils are more fun my gerbils dont smell at all but get them a plastic cage or the bedding willget all over the place why dont you have your cat go outside or get air freshener ( the stand up ones) or a covered litter tray or scented cat litter

Try a different litter in the box. Many clay litters tend to hold more smells - use clumping litter. As far as a hamster? I would strongly advise you not to do that - hamster are "mice" to a cat and sooner or later the cat will get to the hamster and kill it.
