My PS3 is not working.

My optical out on my receiver stopped not working. Is there any other way to hook up my ps3?

  • As I was playing my ps3, the sound all of a sudden went out mid game. I checked the sound settings on ps3 and its correct. I have the optic cable hooked up directly from my pioneer vsx 515 reveiver to my ps3. I noticed that when I have the cable hooked up to the ps3, I can look at the other end of the cable and see the red light. But when I have the cable hooked to the stereo, the red light is not there so im assuming it burned out some how. What other options do I have for hooking up my ps3 to my surround sound?? Thanks!

  • Answer:

You should be using an HDMI cable, which carries the video and audio. The optical cable is only for audio. Connect the PS3 directly to the receiver using HDMI cable and another HDMI cable going out of the receiver to your tv. Set your PS3 to output the audio via HDMI cable. Hope this will help you out.
