How do I hook up speakers to my TV?

How do I hook up my stereo to my TV so that I can get sound from both without turning TV speakers off?

  • cable digital box,Technics Sa-Gx390 stereo receiver, Sony48" Bravia TV hookup from TV to Receiver( audio in and out) is according to directions. At this point I can hear music from my stereo when I turn my TV speakers off but wish to hear music from TV and stereo at the same time.

  • Answer:

The line level audio output from the TV needs to be Y'd out. In other words; get a Y splitter that has one male end and splits to two female ends. Connect one of these female ends to the AUX input of your stereo system. This should work well for you.

Other answers

Your tv only has an optical audio output, which has to be connected to a receiver or home theater in a box with an optical audio input. Stereo receivers does not have the optical audio input. The output on your tv is a digital signal that has to be decoded by a Dolby Decoder. Hope this will help you out.
