How to Connect TV to a Computer?

How to connect my Coaxial Output tv to my computer speakers.?

  • Hello~ My new tv doesn't come with a headphone input so I don't know how to incorporate any type of speakers with my tv without having to buy a receiver. I don't want to spend money on a receiver and then have to buy separate speakers in order to get better sound from my tv. So is there another way to connect my computer speakers into my tv? The only sound output jack is the Coaxial. I was thinking that I could use a Female 3.5mm to Coaxial cable, then plug my computer speaker's 3.5mm cable into the female and plug the coaxial male into my tv and it will be all good, but such a cable doesn't exist. D: Any help would be appreciated! Thanks :D

  • Answer:

I think you have an optical output - you can get an optical to RCA converter: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/digital-to-analog-audio-converter.html You will then need a RCA to 3.5mm female cable to connect computer speakers - these cables are hard to find: http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=2009&sku=40424&iorb=4764&cm_mmc_o=PwYBEp%20qRGCjCQmmVCjCW-CjC-kk

Tv today only provides you an optical audio port for audio connection. This is a digital signal with multi channel sound that has to be decoded by a receiver, home theater in a box with an optical audio input or a sound bar. Your computer speaker does not have a Dolby digital decoder and mainly used for computers. Also most tv today dos not offer any head phone jack at all. Hope this will help you out.
