How would I crop a widescreen image to full screen (for nostalgia)?

• How would I crop a widescreen image on a DVD to look full screen like they did back in the old pan and scan VHS days? My friends and I were going to have an old school movie night and since we were children of the 90s, we still had VHS on 4x3 TVs. I thought it would fun for nostalgia purposes to make the movies look like a cropped 4x3 image. I realize I probably have to burn the DVD, crop it, and re-burn it, unless anyone knows a way to achieve this on the TV or DVD player alone? And yes, I have a widescreen TV so I know there will be big black bars on the sides of the image--it's not a problem.

  Try ojosoft total video converter. after opening the program load your video and click advanvce to check the original aspect ratio of your video. choose video format you want to be converted to(you can maintain the original dvd (mpeg). click edit and change the output aspect ratio you want (in this case 1:33:1 or 4:3 ). Click convert.
