The easiest way to connect your Surround sound system up to your computer is to plug the HDMI cable into your Computers ( HDMI ) port on your Video card. If not you will have to buy a Sound card with either a HDMI connection , or with an Optical connection. Things to check for with your SS receiver 1. HDMI In/Out port 2. Optical port. If you want to flip a switch, to switch between computer audio and Blu-ray / HDTV etc. Buy your self a HDMI switch box.

The EASIEST way is to have all your audio/video components connected to your TV as if you did not have a surround sound. At this point, you would then run and audio out from your TV into the surround system. This could be done a couple different ways, depending on your TV. If your TV does not have an audio out, we will have to look at other options. Your TV may have a analog audio out (red, white) that you can easily run a stereo audio cable from there into your surround red, white input. Your TV may have a digital audio out (best case scenario). You would need a special cable, called an "optical cable" to run from your TV to surround system. In this case, your surround would also need to have the digital optical input. Either way, if you run your audio like I described, you will have surround sound from anything that is connected to your TV. So that would be your computer, cable TV, possible game system. Anything. Hope this helps! FYI - this is not always the BEST way to connect, but it will work and sound great. If you wanted to know the BEST way, I would need to know what components you have with model numbers.
