What's better for home theater, old school 2.1(very old tv with huge old speakers) or new( flat tv w/ 5.1)?

I play ps3, so I want to know what I should choose. I have a very old 24 in' CRT(fat) tv with composite inputs with 2 very old and huge jesnsen speakers. Also, I have a 24 in' led flatscreen tv with 5 small speakers. But, I have a receiver that is hdmi capable with surround or stereo. The old tv and the old speakers match in colors which is old school. Or should I use 5.1 with a flatscreen of the same size? Plus I add an additional subwoofer for twice the power.

Personally I upgraded to a flat screen. I play the PS3 and the xbox and unless your using a flat screen your not taking advantage of the amazing graphics. As far as the sound 5.1 is WAY better. Right now it sounds like you only have 5 as the .1 is actually the sub. If I were you I would use the flat screen and the surround sound, buy a reasonable home sub woofer and use that setup. The sounds are going to be cleaner and the experience of surround sound will pull you into the game and movies much more than speakers mounted only in front of you. Or you could always use the Jensen's as your subs and wire them into the Output of the receiver and still use the LED tv with the 5 surround speakers.
