Help hooking stereo speakers to tv??? PLEASE HELP!!?

  • hi, i can't figure out how to hook up stereo speakers to a TV, the TV has red,white, and yellow plugs to plug wires into, but my speakers only have black wires. And also when i try plugging them into the plugs it just plays the sound from the regular TV speakers, not my stereo speakers. i hope this is'nt too confusing for anyone. and any help is greatly appreciated. And one last thing, if you need any additional details just say so, and i'll give more additional details. thanx ;)

    The red and white plugs are the audio plugs. Check the labels and make sure they are audio output (not input) plugs. The plugs are line level outputs and are not able to drive a speaker directly. To drive a speaker, you need an external amp. Speakers are hooked to the speaker outputs of the amp. An RCA cord connects the audio output of the TV to the Aux In jacks of the amp. All should be good.

The red and white rca plug you see is for the audio output from the tv. You require a receiver or power amplifier to connect it to and your speakers connect to the power amplifier. The tv can not accept connection of external speakers, it does not have enough power to drive most speakers.
