Can I hook up a subwoofer to my receiver?

What cable do I need to hook up my subwoofer to AV receiver?

  • I have a Denon 1912 AVR with a "Subwoofer pre-out" and an Energy RC-Micro subwoofer with a "Line in / Sub In" which are 2 ports (left is white and right is red). What cable do I need to connect the sub to the receiver? Thanks!

  • Answer:

RocketFish 4' HDMI Cable (RF-G1111) 95% copper braid and dual layer 100% aluminum Mylar foil shields protect against external signal interference. 24K Gold plating offers better corrosion resistance and enhanced signal transfer. Multi stranded, high purity copper conductors improve signal integrity and minimize resistance. Silver soldering maximizes conductivity for better signal transferal.

What I did was to connect a stereo to mono RCA cable (RCA Y cable). Connect the 2 red and white rca to the subwoofer (where to plug it doesn't really matter) and connect a single rca cable at the end of the rca Y cable. I could just use a single rca cable from the receiver to the sub's line-level input (white) but just to be sure I used a Y cable to cover both ends.

i have done exactly what Max did. only difference is you or max might not have used or found a $1 cable that was about $40 quality. no problems though friend. pick Max as best answer here lol he beat me to it.

RocketFish 4' HDMI Cable (RF-G1111) These cables are working great. Some other reviewers complained about the ends coming loose, but they seem secure. They seem to be a good solid cable, and transmit a good signal from source to destination. t
