Windows media center on my laptop with Vista doesnt work, we connected it to HDTV and Media center Blacks out!?

We have a laptop running windows vista 64 bit and we connected it to a MONSTER hdtv. we have an HDMI connection to the TV, and when we try to open media center on it, the screen goes black. we can switch it to the desktop view and itll be fine, but the media center just wont show up. please help ASAP!

What is the video card that drives your laptop first? and second you need to set it up as in like a clone mode from the driver of the video card. If is Intel, the video card, you can forget about wide screen mode.
