What do DVD, VHS and I.E stand for?

Is there an advantage to getting a DVD recorder VHS combo versus just a DVD recorder?

  • I am looking to mostly transfer old VHS tapes to DVD format to save space. I see stand alone DVD recorders and combo packages with the VHS in the same machine. Is there an advantage in getting the combo? Most of the reviews I have seen for combo machines are horrible. Can i do the same functions with the pure DVD recorders? I would assume it would just require 1 cable between the old VHS player and the new DVD recorder and I could do the same things as a combination machine but if not please let me know. Thanks

  • Answer:

It is less expensive and it is easier in transferring your old VHS to the DVD. This will also eliminate hooking up a cable between the two machine, which is required if you had a separate unit. I purchased one about 4 years ago to transfer my old VHS tapes to DVD.
