Can I get internet connection on two laptop if I connect an ethernet cable straight from vonage box to laptop?
-
So then i have no use for router
-
Answer:
Vonage don't provide internet service, it uses your broadband service to connect to it unless it doubles as a wireless router as well. Your modem connects ISP to provide web access to whatever is connected to it, your router connects to the modem to split off and share this connection with multiple computers and devices. The vonage box is really similar to another computer on the network, it accesses the internet connection and doesn't provide one. The reason why you hook up the box between the modem and router is so it can throttle your other internet activities to insure the quality of your calls.
