How do I set up a new password on my Linksys wireless router?

I set up my wireless Linksys router with a password but Windows says it is unsecured. Confused help?

  • I set up this router with a name and password but I check my wireless computer and it still says it is unsecured? The only way to set a password on the router is by re-setting the router up and this does not do the trick. Does it say unsecured for my laptop because I'm inside my house? I'm so frustrated :)

  • Answer:

I use a Wired Router and 3-PC's... There are 3-types of networks... The Home Network.. The Public Network.. ...and the Work Network.. Don't hurry thru your intial set up--as a WINDOW should appear asking you to Select--the type of a Network--choose the Home Network... === From what I have read about Wireless Router-s....you must use Encryption.. === I'll guess un-secured is a Public Network.../[end]
