How to set up router?

  • In a weird situation, so I live in a apartment in the city which have concrete walls. We have a router set up on the 2nd floor with a dual-band router. We have 2 networks set up with the dual band router (2.4 and 5 ghz) On the 3rd floor we can not access the 5ghz wifi. We want to set it up where the 3rd floor can access it. Is there anyway to set up 2 routers? Also the dual band router when we want to connect to it using a direct connection (ethernet cable) how can we choose which network the direct connection that comes out, for example we can not direct connect to the 5ghz.? ANy other solution would be helpful, because our last resort is to spend 100 dollars on an adapter

    I'm not sure if your router is a wireless N but I would buy a Wireless N Router wireless N signals bounces off walls all through the house and it has a better connection. Sorry but if you want the full capability on your wireless network you have to buy the wireless N adapter too. Just buy it online you can get a better deal on it. Hope it helps.

Can we get the make and model of your router... and yes there is a way to set up multiple routers on a network. No problem.

The problem is not the router. The problem is the concrete walls. Concrete walls (and floor) have reinforcing wires and rods in them. WIFI has a really hard time getting through it. The higher the frequency, the worse the problem becomes. The best solution is as follows On the second floor, connect an Ethernet cable to the router Run the cable to the 3rd floor Install a wireless access point on the third floor Good Luck
