Uploading a Website.?

Okay so I went to create an ePortfolio and upload to the internet. I can create my website and upload it via a website such as Moonfruit or whatever. Is there a way I'd be able to have something like www.Niall-Lewin.com as my address name without paying for somebody else's domain or server.. Or well.. I'm not all that good at this whole "Web" stuff. I've been told I can use apache to make a server on my computer.. But that went straight over my head. Can somebody help me with this please. Thank you.

You mean you want your own personal "domain name". The only way you can have a domain name is by paying for it. You can find free web hosting but the company that provides it has to make money somehow. So you get their advertising on your pages.
